A
Matter of Moments There are moments in your life when you are faced with the reality of being a parent. It's nature's way to remind you that you have spawned and can never forget it. When my son was two his favorite activity when going to the store was to name all of the items he saw. Of course at that age pronunciation of certain sounds is tough. The "L" sound was a problem for him. We were going through one of those department stores that sell everything for your home. Passing through the aisle full of clocks my son began to call out "Clocks, Clocks." like I said "L" was a problem so that sound never came out. I quickly said, loud enough for everyone to hear, "No, it's Cllllllocks." We passed to the next aisle which was full of flags. Of course he yelled out his version of the word and at that point I decided to leave the store and shop again some other day. It's these moments that only parents can understand. Apparently these moments never really stop. Sunday at our house is big laundry day. All of the laundry from everyone in the house is tossed together and done in a day long event to prepare for the work week ahead. I get up for work, shower, get dressed and go on my way usually while half asleep. This past Monday as I drove to work I noticed my pants or underwear were bothering me. I figured it was just a bad pair or something and went to work. As I earned my day's pay I kept noticing that my underwear was not feeling as it normally does. I reached back there only to feel something lumpy. I excused my self to the bathroom and found my son's sock in my underwear. It had been stuck there and stayed during the folding process. I relate these stories to my
Mother in law who assures me that when my son is grown and gone away I will
look back at these moments with great amusement. I certainly hope so, it's
reassuring to think of myself in my golden years, rocking in my favorite chair,
gazing at a sunset. I'll see the flag that flies over the school down the
street and think of my son. I'll check the time and chuckle to myself as I
remember that day in the store. My wife will come in and see a quirky half
smile on my face. "What's so funny?" she will ask. I'll respond
"Oh nothing, just something lumpy in my pants." Braisco Humor Corner http://www.maxpages.com/humorcorner "The funniest site you've never heard of." Related Articles: How Do You Like Staying Home?
